Download the DRU-500A/DRX-500UL updater to your hard
disk, unzip the file, and then perform the procedure below.
Important
Note
- When using Windows 2000 or Windows XP,
log on to Windows as the computer administrator
or as a user with administrator access privileges.
- If you are installing
The
Intel® Application Accelerator (Intel
Ultra ATA Storage Driver) in your
computer, uninstall Intel
Application Accelerator from the PC before
executing firmware update. *Intel Application Accelerator
(Intel Ultra ATA Storage Driver) may be pre-installed in some computers
manufactured by Dell Computer.
- Before executing firmware update, uninstall
any packet writing software, such
as [DLA], [DirectCD], [B's CLiP] etc, from the PC.
- If you are using the DRU-500A,
disable [DMA setting] in Windows before executing
firmware update. For details, refer to [Help and Support] in
Windows.

Connect the DRU-500A/DRX-500UL
to your computer. Confirm that the drive is detected normally by
your computer. |

If a disc is loaded
in the drive, remove it. |

Close all other
programs. |

In
the update folder, double-click "fw500a10g.exe". |

Select the drive in the "Detected
Drive" and Click [Start Update]. |

Notes
If the message "You must restart your computer
before updating. Do you want to restart your computer now?" appears,
click [Yes]. Your computer restarts. Return to step 4.
If the message "Drive is not ready
or contains a disc." appears, click [OK]. Select the
drive in the "Detected Drive(s)" list and click [Confirm]. Follow
the instructions on the screen. When you are done, click [Start
Update] again and continue.

Click
[OK].
The drive indicator becomes orange and the
update begins.
Note
Do not turn off the power of the drive or
your computer during the firmware update. Further, do not handle
the drive or interface cable, or touch your keyboard as it may
cause the update to fail or make the drive unusable.

When
the update is complete, Click [OK].
The update
is now complete.
